The North Sea platform supply vessel the Far Service, just off the
coast of North East Scotland, on an all-too-rare day of perfect
weather. This is an update of the Perfect Day image, reworked and
improved from the original by using tS5.
Technical Stuff
The Far Service is a real ship, owned by
Farstad and working out of the North Sea port of Peterhead. Some good
exterior and interior photos of the ship can be found at
this link.
The ship mesh is available
here
at TurboSquid, without the name and logo, but including the cargo.
The landscape in the background was
re-modelled in tS5 using NURBs, and is textured using a shader I
wrote myself, the TG Slope
Advanced shader.
The sea was textured using the Crumple displacement shader, while
texture maps were created for the wake and the TG Colour
Reflectance shader used to give the white foam different
reflectance settings from the blue water.
The lighting now uses an IBL (in place of the ring of local lights
used in tS4.3) for the ambient daylight, with an array of 4 local
lights with raytraced shadows acting as the direct sunlight. |
