The Loss Honourable Mention In Caligari’s September 2000 Image Contest
Software Used : trueSpace 4.3, Satori PhotoXL
After working on a lot of technical and detailed images, I decided I wanted a change in style, something less full of details, something more organic, and more abstract. This was the result! I have several possible interpretations for this scene, but I’ve decided not to reveal them here and leave it to the viewer to interpret as they wish. Technical Stuff The water surface with ripples was made with the free Waves plug-in. The water “column” was then raised up from this using point editing, and THC2 used to smooth it. Some more point editing was done to make the water column uneven. The water droplets are deformed spheres, and the sandy surface at the bottom was created using the free PrimPlus plug-in, and then textured using the ShaderLab Fog shader. The image was rendered using depth of field, and then softened a little in post-process using Satori PhotoXL to give it more of a “dreamy” quality.
