Software Used : trueSpace 5, Micrografix Picture Publisher The North Sea platform supply vessel the Far Service in some weather conditions that it has to face all too often. This image was created for a contest on the 3DLuvr site, which required the mesh in a more dramatic setting than the previous scenes. Technical Stuff See previous Far Service images for details about the ship herself. The ship mesh is available here in the store for only $50, without the name and logo, but including the cargo. The sea was a “landscape” object, to try and catch the look of a heavy swell. It was textured using ShaderLab 2 shaders, TG Colour Reflectance and a modified version of the TG Slope shaders. trueSpace 5’s “Advanced Volumetrics” were used to create an atmosphere effect - this gives the lights some visibility as if shining through a mist of rain and spray, plus adds the depth cue effect which hazes everything to grey in the distance. An IBL was used for the general ambient light (even though there isn’t much of it in this weather!). The rain itself was added post-process, as was the depth of field..
